Why use an activated charcoal filter in your bong

The activated charcoal grains in the adapter filter the smoke as it passes by. Due to its excellent filtering properties, activated charcoal frees smoke from a considerable amount of harmful foreign matter and substances. It is extremely absorbent and thus reliably binds pollutants such as tar and benzene before they enter the body via the lungs.

How much carbon is needed for an activated carbon filter

The amount of activated carbon needed depends on the size of the adapter. We mainly offer items that can hold between 3 - 8 grams of activated charcoal granulate, depending on the size of the ground joint and the holding capacity of the centre piece.

Where to place the activated carbon adapter

In a stemless bong, the adapter is placed directly into the bong's glass joint. In a bong that uses a chillum, it is placed between the bowl and the chillum. If an activated charcoal filter is used together with a pre-cooler, the smoke should pass through the filter first, otherwise the moisture coming from the water in the pre-cooler will affect the filtering performance of the activated charcoal and render it useless.

No active carbon adapter without suitable accessories

For the use in an active carbon filter, various manufacturers offer activated charcoal granulate. These items are mainly made on the basis of bamboo or coconut. To get the best performance out of your adapter, it depends on the quality of the activated carbon that is used. Usually, the charcoal that performs best in an adapter is one with a uniform grain size and the least amount of dust. That is why we provide you only with first-class activated carbon granulate from manufacturers such as Heisenberg, Purize and Black Leaf.
